Jay Alberts, PhD
Dr. Jay L. Alberts, PhD is the Director of the Cleveland Clinic Concussion Center and holder of the Edward and Barbara Bell Endowed Chair and an Associate Staff member within the Center for Neurological Restoration and Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Cleveland Clinic. He is also the author of the Cleveland Clinic Concussion (C3) Assessment tool, a valuable tool in the concussion research. His academic credentials include a Ph.D in Kinesiology from Arizona State University, a graduate degree in Kinesiology from Arizona State University, and an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at Iowa State University. Doctor Alberts has over 40 peer-reviewed publications in medical journals, and has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health since 2000. His research has also been supported by the Department of Veterans Affairs since 2003 and other organizations such as the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Josh Bloom, MD
Dr. Josh Bloom is the Medical Director of the Carolina Sports Concussion Clinic, one of the busiest sports concussion clinics in the United States. He is a team physician for the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes, USA Baseball, and Cary (NC) High School. Dr. Bloom is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Family Medicine at UNC School of Medicine and Clinical Associate Faculty in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Duke University. Dr. Bloom’s experience has earned him an advisory role for a number of prestigious committees including: USA Baseball Medical and Safety Advisory Committee, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Sports Medicine Advisory Committee, the North Carolina Medical Society Sports Medicine Committee, and the North Carolina Brain Injury Advisory Council. He was recently named the 2012 Sports Medicine Person of the Year by the North Carolina Athletic Trainer’s Association.
William F. Brechue, PhD
Dr. William F. Brechue, PhD has been a faculty member in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies at the University of Central Oklahoma, the Department of Kinesiology at Indiana University and at the University of Florida College of Medicine in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics and the Department of Medicine. Dr. Brechue has also served as a coach at the high school and university level, most recently at Central Missouri State University where he was a defensive line coach and the strength and conditioning coordinator for the football team.

Rod Walters, DA, ATC
Dr. Rod Walters has enjoyed a storied career as a collegiate athletic trainer. A native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Dr. Walters has long been active in the field of athletic training since his graduation from Appalachian State University in 1980, where he received his Bachelor’s and Master's degrees. In 1988, Dr. Walters received his Doctor of Arts degree in Physical Education from Middle Tennessee State University. Dr. Walters was head athletic trainer at Lenoir-Rhyne College (N.C.) for five years before joining the staff at Appalachian State. He moved to the University of South Carolina in 1990, a member of the nation’s top athletic league in the Southeastern Conference. A member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), he served on the NATA’s Board of Directors from 1997 - 2003. A recipient of NATA's 2003 Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award in 2003, he was was later inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2005. He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.

Chris Drury
With an award-winning career that spanned over a decade, Christopher Drury retired from the NHL as Stanley Cup Champion with the Colorado Avalanche. Drury is also a Hobey Baker Award-winner with Boston University, a Calder Memorial Trophy winner with the Colorado Avalanche, a two-time Olympic silver medalist with the United States, and a former captain of the Buffalo Sabres and New York Rangers. As a child, he also won the Little League Baseball World Series Championship with his hometown team from Trumbull, Connecticut.
